ANIMAL CLUB

Do you have a pet or wish you did? Do you enjoy hanging out with animals and would love to spend more time with them? Then come join Animal Love Club! We will be spending time with animals by volunteering at animal shelters, help fundraise and gather donated supplies for local shelters, and work with shelters/charities for adoption events.  Earn your community service hours in a fun and soft pawed way! Do you have an interest in a career that works with animals? We can explore those possibilities. If you have other ideas on how we can have fun with animals bring them with you to a meeting, all are welcome!

ANIME CLUB

Anime is a form of Japanese cartoons. Our goal is to gather together in order to watch and discuss anime characteristics, content and style throughout the year.

ART

Students work on personal art projects in painting, ceramics and drawing. Students also work on school beautification projects like ceramic tiles to be installed when construction is complete and murals for the school. Art Club is a relaxed atmosphere where students work together, play music, eat snacks and make art. We go on a field trip to an art museum in the spring and every year we design a new art T-shirt. Art Club is open to all grade levels and you don’t need to be an artist to come and make art.

BOOK CLUB

Get together and discuss various books. You decide what we read and you share what you really think.  A place where your voice and opinions matter. Join Book Club and come make some noise in the library.

CALLIOPE

This activity enables students to develop their creative skills. Student’s collect, edit and organize a magazine of student work: poetry, short stories, art and photography.

CEC (Council for Exceptional Children)

CEC Club is made up of students who care and want to learn more about students with disabilities. Our goal is to educate ourselves, school and community about students with disabilities. The CEC Club's motto is: "Knowledge leads to understanding and understanding leads to acceptance".

CHESS

This club is open to all students who have an interest in learning the tactics and strategies of the game of chess. Students may participate in competitive events.

CREATIVE COOKING

Provides an opportunity for students who enjoy cooking and like to try new creative recipes. Members not only develop their culinary talents, but also learn leadership and teamwork skills. This is an excellent club for a student who would like to pursue a career as a chef.

FILM CLUB

Film Club offers students the opportunity to watch, make, and star in their own films.  Students will learn about cinematography, editing, and other elements of film production.  By connecting with other filmmakers, writers, and performers, students will be able to make their stories come to life.

GAMING CLUB

Gaming Club is a place where studetns can come to relax and play collectible card games and other role playing sort of activities. The club hosts tournaments of various interactive video games for players of all levels, begginers through veterans to come and enjoy!

GRAPHIC DESIGN

Explore the world of visual communication through Niles North’s Graphic Design Club. Think of it as NN’s own “in house design studio” that allows students to express their creativity through design and layout of various media: posters, brochures, web sites and whatever else comes our way. Drawing talent is not necessary though an interest in the principles and nuances of visual aesthetics is a definite asset. As a group we will learn and teach one another the Macromedia Suite and other computer graphic programs. Sponsor: Melissa Connell, ext. 2473.

GREEN THUMBS

If you like gardening, plants and flowers, service projects, or landscaping, the Green Thumbs Club is for you! The Green Thumbs is a horticulture club for students to get involved in opportunities of leadership, personal growth, and school and career success. Students will learn by exploring different topics within horticulture while making a positive impact in their community. The Green Thumbs has an Annual Community Plant Sale that is open to all people in the district and community as well as some activities including corsage sale for dances, Valentines Day flower sale, flower arrangements, working in the school greenhouse growing plants, field trips to local greenhouses and landscape companies, campus clean up, and many more activities!

GSA (GAY/STRAIGHT ALLIANCE)

Our mission is to create a safe environment for all students regardless of sexual orientation, and to educate the school community as well as provide school-based support. We participate in the Day of Silence, plan Movie Nights and do other fun things. Join the club where you can be yourself, hang out and make new friends. Everyone is welcome!

HOSA (Future Health Professionals)

HOSA is a national student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education (HSE) Division of ACTE. HOSA's two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. HOSA provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation, and recognition exclusively for secondary, postsecondary, adult, and collegiate students enrolled in health science education and biomedical science programs or have interests in pursuing careers in health professions. HOSA is 100% health care!

MODEL U.N.

The Model UN is sponsored by national colleges and universities whose very own Model UN students provide mock environments of the world’s United Nations. At their provided conventions, Niles North High School students have the opportunity to learn parliamentary style debating skills when acting as UN delegates from nations all over the world. In our real high school world, as many as 2,500 teen delegates from as far as Canada and California attend these conventions! Niles North’s Model UN invite those students to join who love to debate international issues, and would find several weekends of fun inspiring of learned debate skills, and well researched papers of politics. You can even act as an International reporter!

PEP BAND

The Viking Pep Band is comprised of anyone who plays a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument.  They perform popular music for pep assemblies and basketball games.  They have been featured for other community events, like Northwestern's Men's Basketball, etc.

SOAR (Students Organized Against Racism)

The goal of SOAR is to create an inclusive and supportive environment open to all students who are interested in engaging in the school's equity work.  SOAR will develop programs and educational opportunities in order to understand and educate on the system of oppression, institutional racism and effects of racism throughout society.  The sponsor will plan and host events during: Race and Identity Week, Black History Month, and Stand Against Racism.

SPEECH TEAM  

Come join the first ever competitive Speech Team at Niles North!  With 14 different events that range from radio broadcasting, drama, improvisation, and politics, there is sure to be a fit for everyone involved.  The Speech Team puts together speeches of various types and then travels to schools throughout the year to compete.  No previous experience necessary–the only thing I need is commitment.  Come take part in making history at Niles North!

VIKING STRINGS

Do you like to create and perform music? If so, come check out our newest music ensemble the Viking Strings. This group is open to anyone in the school and will be dedicated to learning and performing indie, pop, rock, hip-hop and folk music. If you like to sing, rap, beatbox, play the guitar, ukulele, bass, or drums, this is the group for you! You will also have the opportunity to write and perform your own songs and lyrics.
